I am looking for information on Heinrich (Henry) Marx, b. 15 Apr 1854, married to Elise Steinwait (could be Steinwasser), b. 22 Oct 1860. They emmigrated to Texas with newborn son, Emil (b. 11 Dec 1881), and left Hamburg on 1 Feb 1882 on the SS Australia. They arrived in New York on 20 Feb. Heinrich was a stone mason by trade and was hired to work on the State Capitol in Austin.

On the ship records in the book "Germans to America", Henry & family are listed as being from an unknown village in Prussia. The Hamburg Ship Passenger lists state they were from Hamburg, but this also could just be their place of departure.

According to the "Badishen Generallandesarchiv Karlsruhe" database, emigration records for 1882 include a Heinrich Marx from the town of Schriesheim, district of Mannheim and province of Baden (ship departed from Hamburg). I am uncertain if this is the same Heinrich however, but the emmigration date matches. According to family history, Henry & family may have had a Jewish background.

Heinrich (Henry) is also known to have had a half-brother named Charlie who lived in Marble Falls, Texas for a while. No more info about him is known or available. Any information on Marx relatives living in this area would be greatly appreciated!
