St. Charles (Kane County, Illinois) Chronicle, Nov. 22, 1934, Chicken Thieves Visit Marvin Farm; Take 56 to Market: Chicken thieving is prevalent along with other crimes, but the man, Carl Neuiis of Yorkville, who hired out in October to work for Harry Marvin on the farm 3 miles west of St. Charles, did not find the job profitable.

After a short stay with the Marvins and becoming familiar with the place, the man left. Last Thursday night 56 chicken were taken from the Marvin hen-house. Sacks which were hidden about the place and only known to Mr. Marvin and the hired man, disappeared with the chickens.

This led the sheriff to look in Yorkville for his man. He was apprehended and confessed. He had sold the chickens in Aurora and in Yorkville, after loading them up in his car at the Marvin farm. He said his wife drove the car, but she denies this.

Neuiis is in jail at Geneva awaiting trial.

Chicken thieving has been common in the vicinity. Everett Garfield lost 225 last spring.

Mr. Neuiis is at large, trying to get money to pay for the chickens they carted away.
