Your recent posting re:Martz prompts me to inquire as to your knowledge of the family of Balser Martz. If I have the numberof g's correct, I am the gggg grandson of (John) Sabastian Martz (~1740-1818), thought to be a son of the Balser Martz to whom you refer. All things considered, the genealogy of the descendents of Sabastian Martz is pretty well worked out, and I will be happy to share that, if of interest to you.
While I have not done much for several years, my knowledge of the family of Balser Martz is a shambles (better characterized as a series of guesses!), and I hope you cam be of help.I have "Ann" as the given name of the wife of Balser.I have five children:
(John) Jacob Martz
Catherine Martz, b 1739, d 25 Nov 1823
married surname "Fortine"
naturalized 11 SEp 1765 as a married German of
Frederick County
George Henry Martz, naturalized 11 Sep 1765
(John) Sebastian Martz, b 1740, naturalized 6 Sep 1765
as a German of Frederick County
(John) Theobald Martz, naturalized 15 Apr 1761
(John) Theobald Martz married Catharine Alley and they had six children, only one of whom married.Theobald's final residence was on East Patrick Street in Frederick, MD.THe structure existed until about 1969, when razed for construction of the Frederick Post Office.I have most of this family buried in a church graveyard at Patrick & Market Streets in Frederick.I believe this graveyard has been moved and/or obliterated.
(John) Sabastian Martz's final residence was Toll House Farm near Tenth Legion, Rockingham County, VA.
Again, I have no great trust in this information.I have great interest in any comments you may have.
