When I initially began the Martinie research, I was told that Ernest Martinie (son of a rich banker from Alsace/Lorraine) was a Lt in Rall's Regiment, was captured at the Battle of Trenton, and then sent for his wife in Europe. As I have posted, my research has proved otherwise. Many of Ernest Martinie's descendants settled in Edgar, Logan, Morgan, and Macoupin Counties in Illinois.
How far back can you go on your Martinie family? Perhaps I can link them to Ernest and Susanna.
