It's most interesting to now find post of 2-02-03 re: Quebec into Dakota Territory pertaining to Martineau log house & trading post! Romain Martineau & Marguerite Pelletier are my gr gr grandparents. Their daughter Vitaline was my grandfather's mother. My main focus of research has been on Vitaline's husband Joseph Pelletier whose background (except for 1850-1856) remains entirely unknown. Vitaline's brother Adrien was b. 12-3-1835 per registers St Francois de la Riviere du Sud, Montmagny, PQ, Canada. Bureau Land Management records indicate grants for Andrew Martineau 1876-1882 in Pembina County, ND. I'd love to know if Martineau log house & trading post is still in existence and if so, it's location and anything else about it.
