Are you aware that a biography of Isaac S. Martine is included in "Montana, Its Story and Biography", Vol 3, page 671?
Isaac S. Martine was born, 20 Apr 1876, near Sleepy Eye, MN, youngest of four children of Isaac and Elizabeth (Werring) Martine. The father, Isaac was born near Rochester, NY, and died in 1897. Elizabeth Werring Martine was born in England. They were married at Racine, WI. Isaac Martine, Sr., went to Wisconsin as a young man, and left his farm in that state to enlist in Company F of the Second Wisconsin at the outbreak of the Civil War. He was severely injured in the first battle of Bull Run and for the rest of his life suffered a handicap of his strength and functions. From Wisconsin he moved to Brown Co., MN. (A brief biography of Isaac Martine, Sr., is included in "History of Minnesota Valley-Brown County", page 734. His first marriage was to Amy M. Close in 1845; she died in Aug 1855.)
Isaac S. Martine grew up in a rural district of Minnesota, going to school during the winters, and graduated from high school in 1898. For seven years he was a successful teacher in Minnesota and Idaho. He went to Idaho in 1905 and for two years was connected with the Idaho State Land Board. In 1909, Isaac located to Conrad, MT, where he was in the real estate and loan business, and head of the police department. He moved to Choteau, MT, and in 1915 he was appointed deputy sheriff. Later he served two-and-a-half years as deputy county clerk and on 5 Nov 1918 was elected sheriff of Teton County.
On 17 Jul 1900, Isaac Martine married Kathleen Johnson, a native of Sleepy Eye, MN. They had seven children: Gladys, Alice, Myrtle, Howard, Ruth, Lucile, and James.
Isaac S. Martine died 15 Aug 1947, Portland, OR
Kathleen Martine died 5 Dec 1965, age 88, Multnomah Co., OR
