We have learned that my husband's father was indeed Mohawk. Unfortunately, we wrote to the Michigan birth certificate department, and they did extensive research, and cannot find his birth certificate! (We have his death announcement, marriage license, and death certificate.) We know that he kept his birthfamily's name of Martine (before changing it to Martin) and was born in upper Michigan. ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED! By the way, he was born on June 5, 1901.
