In Reply to: John F. Martine b. abt 1832 NY by Betty Tartas of 106

New information on John F. Martine: He was born 1832 Monroe Co NY, and had a brother Isaac Martine. Both men went to Yorkville, Racine Co WI by 1850. John F. Martine married Mary Ann Scofield April 12, 1851 Yorkville Racine Co WI; witnesses were Isaac and Amy Martine. Both men enlisted in the Union army during the Civil War in 1861 and both were wounded, disabled and discharged by 1862. John was unable to work the farm and left for Rochester Minnesota by 1864 where he worked as a salesman; Isaac Martine also went to Minnesota and settled there. John moved his family to Chillicothe, Livingston Co MO by 1869 and eventually to Independence and Kansas City, (both in Jackson Co) 1890-1897. John and Mary Ann moved to Washington state around 1900; John died in the Old Soldier's Home at Orting WA in 1907 and Mary Ann died in Everson WA in 1914.

John F. and Mary Ann Martine had these children:

Charles Albert Martine b. 1854 Yorkville WI married Alice Miller
Idah Martine b 1856 Yorkville WI died young
Minnie Martine b. 1864 MN married ?Rainford lived Everson WA
John Edson Martine b. 1869 MO never married lived Everson WA

I believe my Martines are a part of the Martine family of Westchester Co NY, but have not been able to find the connection.
