SAMANTHA WILLS BLAKE was born in Woran County, Ohio, March l3, l854, and died at the home of her son, ROY BLAKE, near Leon, Iowa, February 3, l9l7, at the age of 62 years, l0 months and 2l days. She was married to JOHN ROBERT BLAKE, June l8, l88l, who died November 3, l9l2. To this union three children were born, EFFA E. MARTINDALE, JAMES O., and ROY J. BLAKE, all of Leon, Iowa.
She was converted and became a member of the Christian Church about twenty-three years ago, and was baptized by Brother Charles Popewell.
For some time past, Sister BLAKE has been in very poor health. Her relatives and friends did everything possible to relieve her suffering but their efforts were unavailing and finally death came as a relief to this distressed soul.
She leaves to mourn her decease, the three children above mentioned, three grandchildren, two brothers and one sister, along with a host of friends and old neighbors. Funeral services were conducted from the Christian Church Monday afternoon at 2:30, by Henry Esch, Pastor. Interment was at the Leon Cemetery.
