Liz, I appreciate your response to my post. It sounds like there may have been an error on that census. Unless, whoever had done the research on my family had made a mistake. I show that all those children listed are Howell Brewer Martindale's kids, not Beequette kids. I haven't heard of the name Beequette so I am interested in knowing how that plays into the family tree. As I listed before, the kids of Howell and Mary were: Bridges Bruce Martindale, b: abt 1838 William C Martindale, b: abt 1839 in Missouri Lucinda J Martindale, b: abt 1841 in Missouri Ambrose Bryant Martindale, b: 26 May 1844 in Missouri Permelia Ann Martindale, b: 23 May 1846 in Missouri Sarah V Martindale, b: 25 Oct 1849 in Missouri Howell B Martindale, b: 31 Aug 1852 in Missouri Missouri Elizabeth Martindale, b: Bet. 1853 - 1858 in Missouri James Austin Martindale, b: 02 Jan 1856 in Austin, Travis County, Texas Randolph B Martindale, b: abt 1859 in Arkansas I know next to nothing about this Bridges guy and you mentioned the name Bridget. Bridges was born in 1838 which would have made him 12 on the 1850 census. The names Bridges and Bridget are very close and the ages 12/17 may also look very similar written out. Was the census very easy to read? I have so many unanswered questions with this family. During what time frame is your Martindale family? I only have 2 Martindale generations. Permelia Ann (listed above) was one of my direct grandmothers. So we only knew of her and her parents and that was as far back we could go for her side. Also, I am unaware of a teacher, James, living in the household. But I wonder if the Martindales' child, James, could have been named after him for some reason. Another thing I thought was odd was that the last 2 kids were born in completely different states. And I have listed that Howell was buried in Arkansas and his wife was buried in Missouri. Could they have been in the process of moving during the births of the last 2 kids? I doubt it since Permelia was married in Missouri in 1872. More than likely she was still living with her family at that time. So the family must have still been in Missouri. I'm not sure who in my family did all this initial research so I'm not sure where it all came from. I think it came from a family bible. Notify Administrator about this message?
