George, Forgive the delay in responding. I have not focused on that line and wanted to answer with the correct information. I have an obituary on which the date was not preserved. It says he died suddenly of a heart attack while in command of Fort Winfield Scott, in California. According to this: www.nps.gov/archive/prsf/history/hrs/thompson/apendc.pdf he held that office until June 20, 1929, so it appears that was his death date. [If the link does not work, just google "martindale" and "fort winfield scott."] I am very curious about your work -- obviously I'd never heard of Isidore Dunsky or his murder. Was Martindale's connection simply that he was in command? I didn't know that he served in New Jersey. I recall my grandmother mentioning living on a post in New York -- either Brooklyn or Governors Island. That was many years before I was interested in things like this. Now I would pump her with questions. Lost opportunities. Would appreciate learning whatever more you can tell me. Notify Administrator about this message?
