John Martin was b abt 1815 in Wilkes county NC. He married Sarah Sale abt 1835. They are in Wilkes Co.NC in 1850.
They lived in Lawrence Co. Arkansas awhile. In 1860 they are in Allen County, Kansas. Some of the family history is mentioned in "History of Allen and Woodson County", because their son Cicero became a Doctor there.
Anyway in the 1860 census (Kansas)after their children are listed there is an "Alex C. Martin" who was born abt 1830 in Kentucky. Does anyone know who he belongs to or if he is related to them? He wasn't listed any other census years in KS.
There is an Alex/Alexander Martin born the same time in Monroe Co. Ky in the 1850 and 1870 census. He is living with an Elizabeth (Martin) Dicken which I believe is his sister. According to several family trees online, Alexander C. Martin is the son of David Welcome Martin and Lucinda Coe. They are in Jackson Co. Tn in 1850. This Alex was supposed to have been married to an Eliabeth Stone but I don't see them in any census records. I can't find this Alex anywhere in the 1860 census. Could it be the same man that's in Kansas?
The John and Sarah Martin family he is living with in 1860 Kansas is next door to Nancy Sater Martin, her husband Caswell Martin died in 1849 in Dade County Mo. After selling her property she moved to Allen county, KS in the 1850s. In 1840 Nancy was also in Monroe County, KY living with her parents. The Lucinda Coe that married David Welcom Martin is a cousin of Nancy's (her mother was Elizabeth Coe Sater).
