Caswell K. MARTIN b. TN or KY married Nancy SATER abt 1841, probably in KY, She was b. 1818 Surry County, NC
daughter of Henry SATER and Elizabeth COE.
Their families moved to Greene/Dade County, Mo between 1840 and 1842. Children of Caswell and Nancy:
1. John Buck Martin b.Jul 13, 1842 near Mt. Vernon Mo., d.Jul 24, 1924, Coffeyville, Kansas
2. Almary "SIS" Martin b.June 8, 1843 Dade Co., Mo d. Feb 1, 1928
3. Jurena Martin b. Dec. 23, 1844 Dade County, Mo d. Sept. 11, 1926
4. George M. Dallas Martin b. Nov. 18, 1847 Dade Co. Mo d. Jan 27, 1931 St. Joseph, Buchanan County, Mo
5. Emma or Milly b.abt 1849 Dade County Mo
Caswell Martin died in 1849 in Dade County, Mo. The only record I have for him is a Probate record. He had no will.
My gr grandmother was John Buck Martin's daughter, Mary "Lois" Martin, she always said that the Martin side of the family were part Indian, possibly Cherokee.
I've been looking through records online and ancestry.com for MARTIN families in Monroe County, Ky and surrounding counties including TN, and the Greene/Dade Counties in Missouri. I haven't found anyone to connect Caswell to. Nancy Sater had 2 first cousins (COES) that married Martins, they were David Welcome Martin and Rhoda Martin. Is anyone familiar with Caswell? Any suggestions?
