Would like to here from anyone connected to these people.I
will be glad to tell all I know, and be glad to hear anything I don't know. I am descended from Levi Gentry who's family had ties to them. On the 1870 Lee co. MS census Charles Martin (& family, as always, but I may just include HH for each listing now, to shorten message)is listed between his brother-in-law Samuel Gentry (Levi's son)and Samuel's brother Elijah Gentry. Next is their sister Deborah (Gentry) Williams, then next is sister Elizabeth (Gentry)McCarty, then their sister Martha (Gentry)McCarty's sons and daughters Dorcas McCarty, Martha McCarty, & Samuel McCarty(my Great Grandfather). This area was on the Old Town Creek P.O. route. Later in 1887 this area became known as Sherman,MS.,a tri county area - Pontotoc, Lee, & Union. I live in this section of Sherman that they lived. The old house of Charles, or what use to be a house, is still barely standing, about a half of a mile from my house. I live at the place where Samuel Gentry's daughter Dorcas and John Johnson use to live.
I will tell you what I know about Charles & David Martin as what is written about them in a few local books, deeds, and other, as well as other things about them I have found out. If you can tell me anything, if nothing but who you are and how you are descended, that will be fine. That's the only way we can get anywhere, for everyone to tell everything they know, and not hold back anything. You never know when one little word or name may change everything.
