I am becoming desperate for information on my great grandfather as my grandmother's health is not well at this time. If anyone knows any information regarding him or his family it would be greatly appreciated. I have been told that he died somewhere in Florida, but am not sure of the location.
I am searching for information on my great grandfather - George Jefferson Martin, Sr. I know very little about him and unfortunately my grandmother does not wish to discuss anything about him. Here is what little information I have on him.
George Jefferson Martin, Sr.
born abt 1902 state of Georgia
father's name: James Martin born: GA occup: flagman w/RR
mother's name: Ida Martin born: GA
maternal grandmother's name: Mary Ross (Ida's mother)
1910 Birmingham, Jefferson County, Alabama
1920 Birmingham, Jefferson County, Alabama
by 1930 he was married with children
1930 Camilla, Mitchell County, Georgia
occupation: mechanic w/AutoRepairShop
wife: Clara Mable Steed born:1901-Alabama died:Dec.21,1981-Georgia
daughter: Inez born abt 1923-Georgia
daughter: Catherine born 1926-Georgia (my grandmother)
son: George Jr born abt 1928-Georgia died:May 2008-Louisiana
George J. Martin, Sr left the family before 1942 in 1943 filed for divorce in Hillsboro County, FL
I have no other information regarding my great-grandfather. I know that he had another family after he left my great-grandmother but no names are know at this time. If anyone has any information on him or his other family please let me know. Thank you in advance for any help available.
