Hi Emma As far as I can establish Henry Marten was one of my ancestors through his daughter Rebecca Marten who married Moses Couldry. Their daughter Mary married John Hissey and for several centuries the Hisseys lived in Longworth in Berkshire, before my great great grandfather Charles Hissey immigrated to Australia in 1840. Have you read A Revolutionary Rogue by Sarah Barber?. In all biographies, including The National Biographical Index there is a mix up over his wives. he actually married twice. his first wife was Elizabeth Lovelace, daughter of Sir Richard. They had 3 daughters before Elizabeth died in childbirth, or shortly afterwards. In 1635 he married Margaret Stanton, a widow and by her had 1 son and 4 duaghters, the youngest of which was Rebecca. He and Margaret did not get on and he also had 3 daughters by his mistress Mary Ward. He must have thousands of descendents. How do you fit in? I think he is a fascinating man and am proud to be a descendant. lauris
