Kia orana Maryanne, I must totally disagree with you regarding William Marsters I first wife and My father Rev. Bill Marsters put together the family tree stating the first wife is Akakaingaro and if the name Akakaingaro wasn't use back in the day why is the name Akakaingaro named on girls in each of the 3 wives families in the early days and the name Tata wasn't used as often as Sarah tho. I know all about Palmerston island and its history as it was told to me by my grandfather Ned and my father Bill and mother Martha as I use to live there. I also know that ur grandfather Richard married Tavake(from Gilbert island) and they had 9 kids - John(died a baby), Tom, John Mata, Richard, Marion, Terouru, Korinako and Ann (ur mum) and my great grandfather Thomas and ur grandfather Richard are brothers and my grandmother Ann was known as Painkiller, just as my grandfather Richard was known as Oke. I know the island was spilt in 3s for the families of the 3 wives and i agree that the house is built on the Tepou side but that was built there b4 he decide to split the island in 3s. Your dad Ruben is from the Matavia line, his parents are Alfred Taenga (Turn) and Haua Tuatai of Manihiki and they had 14 kids- Tamapi, Mary, Aaron, Martin, Pedrin, Taromi, Mose, Tiarua, Maihia, Bob, Matavia, Turu, William and Ruben ( ur dad). Cousin Fred would be interested in meetin ur dad again as this father Bob and ur dad Ruben are brothers. I have a family tree that my father put together many years ago, my father travelled all over NZ to gather information for the family tree which he completed and took back to Palmerston for the celebration of the 100yrs of the Marsters family living on Palmerston island. Now I have another family tree that I got from cousin Tuporo and if you like I could have him send u one. Email me with ur address so I can get cuz Tuporo to send u one as he lives in Wellington.
