Kia orana Marion I must disagree with you regarding the wifes of William Marsters the first. His first wife is Tepou, his second wife is Sarah (Tata)whose line is the middle family as has been referred to by the Marsters of Palmerston Island right from the time of William Marsters the first, his third wife is Matavia and of course there is the Ford family. Palmerston Island is split three ways, for the three wifes. Tepou's line and Matavia's line hold the opposite ends of Palmerston Island, with the family home built by William Marsters the first located on Tepou's land, and the line of Sarah (Tata) hold the middle portion of the island. Your grandmother Ann, who is also known as Painkiller lived on Palmerston Island the same time as my mother Anne Marsters. My Mother Anne is the daughter of Richard Marsters who is the son of William Marsters the first and his first wife Tepou - making my mother the granddaughter of William Marsters the first. Approximately twelve years ago when my mother was still on this earth she told me that the middle family were now calling Tata (Sarah) by the name of Akakaingaro. In all her years growing up and starting a family on Palmerston Island my mother was adamant that Tata was never known by the name Akakaingaro. Till the day she died she never acknowledged the name of Akakaingaro as belonging to Tata (Sarah) - the middle family. When my parents talked of people and events that occurred on Palmerston Island when they lived there, the names of William Marsters the first children, and grandchildren, etc cropped up all the time, such as your grandmother Painkiller, your grandfather Ned, and his father Bill, along with many others who have long since passed away. I am so thankful that while my mother was still with us I spent hours upon hours recording family lines, events and incidents passed down from the elders of the time, and also events and incidents that occurred during her lifetime on Palmerston Island. I count those records as one of my prized possessions. I believe that one of our family from the line of Matavia, working at a Universtiy in Hawaii is creating a Marsters family geneology tree. It is a project in progress as it is complex. I hope this clarify's things for you Marion, and thank you for responding to my posting.
