Well since I was a lil girl growing up in Palmerston Island, My elders always spoke her name as Matavia NOT MATAUIA!!!!. You cannot assure me dat her name was not spelt Matavia and no good saying to me dat you've spoken to a lot of palmerston people who agrees with you because they wouldn't really know either aye unless they are the elders of Palmerston whom I've gotten my informations from .. so unless someone comes up with a birth certificate showing that her name was spelled MATAUIA then I will agree with you till then her name will always be Matavia to me.

Thanks for the email and hope to hear from you soon

Regards Marion Marsters

Hi Marion, Just a correction on that name Matavia? It is Matauia. I know the record says its Matavia. But i assure you that. Alot of Palmerstons i've spoken to recently have finally agreed! Remembering she was a Penrhyn Lady. But keep up the good work. Kia Manuia
