Jennifer, I don't know who the parents of your John Marshall (b. 1785) were, but I think I can make an educated guess that will get you much closer. I strongly suspect that your John might be a son of either William (b. 3 Oct 1760) or Stephen (b. 27 Aug 1767), brothers, and sons of David Marshall of Halifax County (who died and left a will there in November 1784-1785). Stephen is probably too young to be the father, so I'd tilt to William. But Stephen married Elizabeth Burt, and that's my clue that your John is probably of this group of Marshalls. Both Stephen and William moved to Georgia around 1800. Send me a separate personal email, and I'll be happy to send you my recently completed history of the Marshall family in which I think you probably belong. The file is in Microsoft Word format, and is HUGE (108 pages, and 541 citations). Lou Poole, Richardson, TX Notify Administrator about this message?
