Yesterday i took the Bible to our county archives. We currently have 2 LDS archivists from Canada that as their mission they have been going to many Tn counties and archiving their records. They already did Greene co,tn ,but couldnt remember the Marshalls. They called the Green Co archivist and i spoke with her.Apparently there was a Dr Joseph Bell who had 3 wives, one son married a Marshall,so Lulas Bell in her name may have come from there. They looked at the date in the front and thought it looked like 1718.They tried to bring the date out more but were losing the writing. They told me to take it to the Tn State Archives in Nashville to see what they could do.I can see what looks like 1778 to me,but until someone can bring the writing out more .who knows,it may be 1918 or 1818.I did find something interesting on the 1920 Greenville ward4 ,Greenville ,South Carolina Census involving a Mary Worden, and since you said you primarily researched Wordens i wondered if you knew anything about this very extended family. There is a Lula Marchell described as the daughter and both Mary Worden and Lula would be right age from 1900 census of Frank and Maggie Marshall of Green co.Do you have any record of a widowed Mary Marshall marrying a Worden in South Carolina. What is most intriguing is the name of the next door neighbor is Osheal, which looks very much like the name for a James b in 1855in the Bible. The 2 names on the 1920 census are too young to be the one in the Bible, but one is named Jim.Just wondered if you knew about this Worden, father came from Germany, mother Tn.
