Looking for info regarding the Marshalls of Marshall Hall, Md. and how or if they relate to the Marshalls of King George Co, Va or other Northern Neck areas. This family descends from William Marshall of England d. ca 1673. He patented "Marshall" 1651 near the Wicomico River and later owned large tracts in Charles Co, Md across the Potomac from what would later become Mount Vernon. A son, Wm. Marshall II m. Elizabeth Hanson and had the following issue: (in no particular order)
John
Barbara
Thomas
John b. ca 1694
Richard - youngest b. ca 1697
Joshua Marshall d. 1702 may have been Wm II's brother.
This same family intermarried with the Hansons, of whom descended John Marshall Hanson, sometimes referred to as the real first president of the United States of America. They were also well acquainted with the Washingtons.
Am also looking into Col. William Marshall variously of King George Co, Va. whose estate was appraised by William Longmire 1740's, and how he may relate to Wm Marshall m. Lucy Goode (mother of Martha Jefferson).
