Elizabeth Richmond Marsden
Perhaps someone can help,
I'm looking for family info for Elisabeth Richmond Marsden. Other than her married family, I have no dates or relationships.
Elizabeth married Oct. 12, 1859, prob. in Carlisle, Cumberland Co., Pa., William H. Cook, b. Jan. 1, 1829, Adams Co., Pa.; d. Mar. 21, 1879, Carlisle, Cumberland Co., Pa. On his deathbed in 1879, William H. Cook and two cousins (one, my gr. grandfather) decided to change the spelling of our last name from Cook to Cooke. They believed Cooke was the original spelling in England prior to 1713 when our ancestor Peter Cook (who did not survive the voyage) his wife Elinor Norman & family came to America.
William & Elizabeth had eight children with unigue names:
Persifer Marsden Cooke, b. Dec. 25, 1860
Hedley Vicars Cooke, b. Feb. 24, 1862
Robert Grier Cooke, b. Aug. 12, 1863
William Harvey Cooke, Jr., b. Sept. 28, 1865
Edward Marsden Cooke, b. Nov. 9, 1867
Jessie de Guylpyn Cooke, Nov. 23, 1870
Morris Llewellyn Cooke, May 11, 1872
Elizabeth Richmond Cooke, Oct. 23, 1874
Two of the children, Robert Grier & Morris Llewellyn were noted individuals.Robert Grier was a publisher in New York (1904) and Morris Llewellyn was appointed head of the Rural Electrification Administration in March 1935 by F.D.R.
If anyone recognizes any of this, please contact me.
Thank you
