Searching for the family of Job Davis (sometimes found as Joseph) born in April of 1773 in Mecklenburg County, Virginia. He came to what was then Anson County with Josiah and Mary T. Floyd in 1794 and married Sarah Winfield who was the daughter of Peter Winfield and Charlotte Freeman, and widow of Richard Howell.
In Mary Floyd widow's pention petition, a Thomas Marriott is mentioned. In Job Davis's will he mentions a Teddy Marriott, who's debt of some of his sons he wants to settle. One of Job's son's is named Marriott (or Merritt) Freeman Davis. I found a Thomas Merritt married to Polly Freeman. Job has to be connected to this family some way. He is my ancestor.
