Greg, old post I know but worth a shot. We have been looking at this old William Marriott since we found out he is a DNA match to us. He is the first Marriot/Merritt of any record we have in Virginia. In 1637 he is imported by Thomas Barnard to Warwick County, right where Newport News is now. I believe he was in Barbados in 1635, and was born 1609 England by the same record. My line begins with a younger Marriott, not far away and only a generation later in 1650 as the second wave of Merritts starts to hit VA.
