Marriotts Nottingham/ Australia

I am doing some research for a friend of mine who lives in Nottingham UK.She is seeking relatives particularly sons daughters, grandchildren of her Uncle Harry or Henry Marriott (her mother Ada Brown nee Marriot's brother) born about 1882 in Sneinton Nottingham. He fought and survived the Boar War and then worked as a policeman in the port of Kowloon Hong kong. There is a picture of him standing next to the ship Empress of Japan ( we believe this to be the second empress of Japan as he states on the back of the photo the tonnage, which corresponds to the second ship built in 1929 and renamed the Empress of Scotland in 1942.His wife(name unknown, also unknown as to whether her origins are english or chinese/philipino?) and daughter Rosa left Hong Kong before the Japanese invaded in 1941,but Harry/Henry Marriott was taken prisoner and died in a Japanese POW Camp.It is believed that his family went to Bondi Beach Australia.
Can anyone shed any light on the whereabouts of this family line.
