So glad to get your message. I have a huge file of information on William Marriott's family . William's father was a close friend and executor of John Wesley and there is a great deal of personal correspondance between the Marriott and Wesley families held by the Wesley library, I have done a lot of research at the Wesley Museum in London.
Mary Keene's father Arthur was a beneficiary in John Wesley's will, I also have Arthur Keene's will as well as that of William himself and that of William and Mary's son Benjamin.
I am a descendant of Thomas Marriott who was the brother of William's father, who was also called William.
I will happily share all this and more with you, I have so far traced the family back to about 1740.
What I have not established yet is whether the William mentioned on Samuel and Rebecca's marriage certificate and the William who married Mary Ann Keene are one and the same person, I know they had sons Arthur, Joseph and Benjamin and also daughters, but have no documentary evidence to confirm Samuel as their son although I think it highly probable that he was. The thing that gave me doubts is a sentence in a book about the early Methodists that refers to the surviving sons of William and Mary without mentioning Samuel, it could be that if he was in America the author was unaware of him.
I need to visit the Guildhall library in the City of London where they keep all the City records, it will take some time but I hope to find answers there about a number of things, all the stockbrokers lists are kept there and I should be able to ascertain if there was more than one William Marriott who was in that profession at that time.
Looking forward to hearing from you
