My mother's father was Thomas William Marriott born 1889 at either Car Colston, Nottingham or Hawkesworth/Bottesford, Leicester. His father was Thomas James born 1853 at Nottingham, Nottingham. The father of T.J was William born 1819 at Car Colston. T.J was a veterinary surgeon (MRCVS)as were 2 or 3 of his brothers. One came to Union, Ontario, Canada to work as a vet. Another worked as a vet in Cotgrave, England. T.J. worked as a vet at Car Colston, Nottingham after his father William was unable to carry on his practise. We are not sure if the father William was also a vet. The family home was at Car Colston for over 350 years (so my grandfather said). My grandfather came to Canada with his brother John in 1917-18. My grandfather never moved back but his brother John did when T.J. was very old. John married but had no descent. My grandfather had 8 children (5 boys and 3 girls). The Car Colston house was sold to a doctor about 1946 when T.J died. I am in Canada and am trying to find out more info about the UK background. Are there links between our family?
