George and Mary MARRIOTT 1800's UK
Gidday Fellow geneologists!
Hi to you all from Downunder -Australia!
And a big HI to those in OZ
Firstly, let me introduce myself. My name is Ron Clutterbuck and I live on the Gold Coast in Queensland, Australia. I am the grandson of Allen Alfred Marriott who has been trying over the last number of years to trace relatives and those connected to the Marriott family tree.
If you have any English Heritage at all with your family tree, then this will probably be a link for your geneology in some way!
If you might be able to help out with any, maybe all of the information that my grandfather is looking for, I know that he would be so appreciative - myself included. You may know of some other contacts that you have found very helpful along the way!?
Please do not delete this posting before printing it out and taking it to your rellies, parents, grandparents or even forwarding this to other Marriotts or contacts you have. Any tid-bit of information no matter how large or small i'm sure would be of enormous help in our quest.
We are firstly trying to find out the family links, parents and sons and daughters of each person that we are trying to get information on. Even birthplaces and/or places of abode. As you will see, we have bits and peices of info on some.
We first go back to a baptism certificate May 5th 1816 in the parish of St Martin in the Fields, in the county of MIDDLESEX. The child baptised was my own grandfathers great great grandfather, George William Marriott. These people lived in Legg Alley and we think the writing says The father was a coach-maker. The parents here are a George and Mary, the Surname is given as Marriott. Now, we have all the family history from George William on, as he migrated to Australia in 1863. We are not able to trace who the parents of George and Mary were and, who if there were, any other children and their families on.
The next certificate we have is in 1822 in the Parish of St Anne, Westminster? in the county of MIDDLESEX.This child was Elizabeth Sarah Marriott, born to a George and Mary. Again, this shows George as a coach-maker, but the abode seems to be different. We are unable to make out the writing. Are these two children linked and are they the same George and Mary. It may seem so. We do not have any info giving us any definite links and info about the future family of Elizabeth Sarah.
The next certificate we have is in Sept 15th, 1833 in the Parish of St Andrew, Holburn, in the City of London, and in the County of MIDDLESEX. The child here was an Edwin Everett Marriott, showing also born on 1st May 1832. Here it is Shown that the parents are a George Everett Marriott and a Mary Lambun. It does not show where they lived. Again, we don't know if this couple are the same as any of the above or linked in any way. Also, we have no further information on the family tree that we are aware of from Edwin Everett on.
The last we have currently is in February 16th? 1834 in the Parish of ??????, Bishopgate in the County of London. The child here is a Charles Marriott. The parents shown here are a George and Mary, the surname showing Marriott. There abode was in a place called Stepney and it seems to read that he (George) was an officer in the custom?? Again, we are not sure if this couple are the same again and/are linked in any way. Also, we have no further info right now on the future family and lineage of Charles on.
I'm sure that this might strike up some interest somewhere. If you are aware that we (my grandfather) might be able to assist some of your enquiries, I know that he would be only too happy.
So the question arises here, are any or all of these children linked, brothers and sister, what are their families and geneologies further on, who were the parents of the Georges and Marys, who were the parents of Grandparents of the Georges. Were George Everett Marriott and Mary Lambun actually married. I'm so new to this geneology thing that it might seem very obvious to you. I can see that these people seem to be linked but we have nothing that shows us this. For all I know you may even have a full history and geneology sitting at home!! That would be absolutely awesome.
We appreciate the very fact that you have taken time to read this rather lengthy posting, and anything on top of that would be a bonus/gift to us with any info that you may be able to provide however large or small.
Kindest regards to you and your families
Ron Clutterbuck
