Are the names MARIETTA, MARIETTE variations of MARRIOTT surname? I have, in data sent to me, a list of children of William B. WALLER, Rev. War soldier, born in Frederick Co., VA, died in Guernsey Co., OH, which includes a son, John Waller, who m. Elizabeth MARIETTA/MARIATTA, prob. in VA 11 June 1811 and daughter Mary Waller who married John MARIETTE SOVORINS, 1802 or 1822, prob. VA.. I'm thinking that the Mariette middle name is derived from John Sovorins' mother's maiden name, and I am very interested in determining the ancestry of this particular John Sovorins (also spelled Soverins, Soverns). What do you MARRIOTT researchers think?
