North Carolina Marriage
My gr-grandfather, Reuben Reynolds, died April 1859. His widow, Eliza Graham Reynolds, remarried an unknown Jordan. I have looked everywhere I know except under the bed, to find out which Jordan she married. She was a Reynolds widow in 1860 census and a Jordan widow in 1870 census. My Reynolds family came to Montgomery Co, NC, and all this happened in that area. The other mother-in-law of their children's marriage was Arena "Reiny" Jordan. Reuben's sister, Deborah, married Rev. James Jordan, who performed the ceremony for said children. Rev. James Jordan was first cousin to Elder F.M. Jordan, if that helps. Y'all know how it is: You get a question about whom an ancestor married, and it bugs the dickens out of you until you know! I do appreciate any leads. The thought occurred to me that he might have been in the Civil War, but there's no way to check without the first name!
