The purpose of a family tree is to inventory the formation of family and the blood ties involved. The difference between a family tree and a genealogy tree is that a family tree lists bloodlines of family whereas a genealogy tree follows all public records available. When making a family tree, a dissolved marriage which produced no offspring to form family provides absolutely no useful information. It is my opinion that listing a childless and dissolved marriage within a family tree accomplishes nothing to augment a family tree; therefore, there is absolutely no rationale reason to list that marriage.
