William Bakely enrolled in the NY militia as William Blakley Watson 1917, he was married in 1919 as William Bakley Smith in NY. His marriage affidavit says he was born in Phil. PA in 1893. He writes that his father is George Curtis Smith of Camden, NJ.
For some reason this family kept changing names from Smith to Watson (no one seems to know why). My cousin Clarence Watson, William's son says that in reality his father's name was William Bakely Marple(s). He says that William's mother left the family and his father remarried to Louisa Montangeu. Louisa was b.1873 NJ d. 1932 NY.
Other siblings of William are John, Edgar (Edward), Lulu, Edna, Violet, Richard.
Hoping someone has a Bakely/Marple connection.
