Joseph Marples born 1855 Yorkshire (son of Charles Marples & Rachel Green) married in 1877 to Ellen Somerset. They had 7 children: Mary Ellen born 1878, Edith born 1884, Charles born 1886, Elizabeth born 1888, William born 1889, Ada born 1891 & Jessie born 1892. Joseph married second wife Sarah Wilson in 1893 and they had 6 children: Florrie born 1894, Lydia born 1897, Maria born 1901, Walter born 1903, Wilfred born 1906 & Ernest (year of birth unknown). All of Joseph's 13 children were born in Sheffield.
