If you grandfather was Richard Earl Marotte (b about 1916), then he appears to be the son of John L Marotte (b June 1868), who appears to be the son of Christian Marotte (b about 1831). This family resided in the Chambersburg / Guilford / Montgomery / Shippensburg area of Franklin County, PA.

Richard Earl Marotte had a brother Maurice L. Marotte, Sr (b about 1900), who had a son Maurice "Mike" Marotte Jr (d 2005). Maurice Jr was probably your father's cousin.

While Maurice Jr. passed away in 2005, some of his family still live in Franklin County PA.
