Hi Sharron,
Don't know if this might tie in with your Maroneys. We are researching the parents & family of John Maroney born in 1840 in and around Limerick, Co. Clare. He was from a large family
having 7 sisters. He supposedly had an uncle Jeremiah who was a school teacher in Cork in the 1860's.
John joined the British army in 1860. He was posted in Quebec
city in the Province of Quebec, Canada in 1862 where he married Catherine Mahon and had 3 children:
-Thomas b 1863
-Catherine b 1864 or 65
-Honoria b 1866
Catherine died in 1866,67 or68.John moved to Ottawa in 1868
and remarried Janet MacArthur. They had 4 children:
-Margaret Ann b 1873, -Helena b 1876, -Mary Jane b 1879, and John Hugh b 1883 is my husband's Grandfather. Does any of this sound familiar? Any info would be so appreciated.
Thanks,Margaret
