I am trying to document the connection between James and Seally Moseley Maroney of Wilkes Co. GA ca 1790 and their probable children Benjamin, Polly, William, and Elizabeth Isabelle “Ebe” Maroney. I had been told that James Maroney died young and that his widow Celia married a Kilgore, but could find no documentation of that fact. A Maroney family researcher, Sarah Johnson, brought to my attention that there was a marriage record of a Celia M. Roney to a William Kilgore dated 1809. She obtained this information from Allen Atkinson’s family treemaker. My contribution is to document that the marriage of Celilia M. Roney and William Killgore on 12 Oct 1809 in Putnam Co., GA, is recorded in “Georgia Marriages 1801-1825” published by Liahona Research, 1999. My line is through Benjamin Maroney, who married Elizabeth Gresham in Jasper Co. GA in 1817 and moved to Campbell Co., GA by 1830, where he appeared in the census under the name Benjamin Roney.
