Interesting reading all of this! I am a Marolf by marriage, but you comment about family feuding is correct. There was a falling out between two brothers in the early 1900's, I believe it was between a John Marolf and a William Marolf. One brother stole the other brothers prize winning hogs or something. Listening to my aunt (in law) there was some pretty interesting stuff going on between them. I have heard her talk about Lena frequently. This feuding is so severe that although all the Marolf's from this area are related there are certain branches of the family that adamently deny any relationship. According to her Moscow was founded by either two brothers or two Marolf cousins. She claims that all the USA Marolf's descend from these two! Her father (William Marolf)was killed in a farming accident.
