Sounds like we are related. Here's what I know from your list -

I think Mearl is the "Buddy" I was referring to - I remember Evie and Fredie talking about a Mearl...

Rolland Marolf was my Dad's cousin

My Dad is Harlan, son of Fred Marolf sister Bonnie and Betty

Aunt Selma had only one son, George Frederick McCoy - probably named after her brother

The boiler explosion - I have a photo of the damage aftermath - pretty grainy but I can scan it and send to you along with the acompanying article - it was a combination creamery and sawmill - my dad says that there was a strong possibility the deaths could have been murder, at the least manslaughter but it was never investigated. Another employee never showed up for work again after the accident - the explosion took place on a weekend when usually no one was present at the site...
