I have been doing research on the Marmaud/Marmeau/Mermond surname for about 6 years now and will be posting what I have accumulated so far. I have traced my spouse's Marmaud line back to St Pierre et Miquelon, Colony of France year of 1784. According to Steven White, the renowned Acadian Genealogist, this line originated in Anglefort, Bugey, France and came over in the early 1780's to Cape Breton and settled in Little Bras d'Or. This Marmaud/marmeau/Mermond intermarried with many Acadian families and removed to the Arichat area about 1813. They were fishermen, ship builders, whalers, all were men of the sea until about 1870 when they removed to the area of Boston, MA. If you are connected to any Marmaud line, I would love to share information with you. There are not many of us around.
