Jim, I appreciate your response.

This posting was one of those shots in the dark. Like everyone else, I'm trying to figure out the pattern woven into this tapestry.

We are looking at Wilson Crutchfield, age 13, listed in the household of James Crutchfield, age 33, wife Rebecca age 30, Sarah A. age 10 and Mary age 1. This family was in the Chatham Co., NC 1850 US Census. The age of this Wilson is off by two years as the date I was given is 27 May 1835 for birth.

According to my source, a 90 year old granddaughter of Wilson C. Crutchfield, her great-grandfather was James Crutchfield who married Sarah Williams. Another source says Sarah Williams married John Crutchfield.

My source also says that her grandfather had 2 sisters. She never met them but was told that their names were Jane Marly/Marley and Sarah. No dates. Jane Marly married a Johnson and Sarah "Sallie" married a Whitt.

1) Is Mary age 1, really Marly?

2) Is Rebecca a second marriage for James?

3) Was Rebecca's mother, perhaps a Marly/Marley?

Thanks again,
