Looking to trace my husbands Gr Gr Grandfather William Henry Marks. The only info that I have of him is that he married Sarah Richards in Penzance\Madron, Cornwall 26 Nov 1853. He was a Batchelor aged 21 (B: abt 1832) and a laborer. Details on his death record also give his fathers name as William (same as marriage entry) Australian Death record gives his mothers name as Mary but I have no way of knowing if this is correct.
William and Sarah immigrated to Australia aboard the Nestor in 1854 (he was a sponsered Immigrant by John Bell's Run, Mount Eckersley, Victoria, Aust. which was\is a sheep and cattle grazing "farm") and I have been able to follow the family from there, but cannot find any further details of him prior to his marriage. Would DEARLY love info regarding parents and siblings etc. It is believed he was born in Devon but I have not so far found anything that substantiates this. Is there anyone who might have info who could assist please as I have reached a brick wall. Would there be any immigration records in England that might tell me where he was born and if so where do I find them please(I live in Australia, so on-line would be good!) None of the Aust records I have give me any details re birth place or extended family. Grateful for any help.
