From the Independent Record, Thermopolis, Wyoming, February 22, 1973:

Lee Allen Markley, 72, died February 17, 1973 at Hot Springs County Memorial Hospital, Thermopolis, Wyoming.

Mr. Markley was born May 3, 1900, at Lamar, Kansas, the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Markley. He married Naomi Blanche Grein at Seattle, Washington, March 11, 1946. They moved to Lander, Wyoming, in 1946 where he worked for the police department until his retirement in 1965. They moved to Thermopolis that year.

He was a veteran of World War I and the Disabled American Veterans.

Survivors include the widow, of Thermopolis; two daughters, Mrs. Florence Fulton of Wauconda, Illinois, and Mrs. Margaret Wells of Seattle, Washington; three sons, John of Houston, Texas, Ned of Everett, Washington and Jimmy of Edmonds, Washington; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Joan Shepardson of Dubois, Wyoming and Mrs. Bonnie Fankhauser of North Platte, Nebraska; a stepson, Dean Grein of Memphis, Tennessee; also three stepchildren, Edith Cox, Bob and Billy Sellers, all of Seattle, Washington; 34 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. February 19 at Mortimore Chapel with Rev. Harley Pulis of the First Baptist Church and Mr. Larry Bristo of the Church of Christ officiating. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery, Thermopolis.

Mrs. Clark Mortimore sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "How Great Thou Art."

Editor's Note: I am Mr. Markley's nephew. Mr. Markley was Ms. Naomi Blanche Grein's (nee Martin) second husband. Blanche's mother, Abbie Lodema Herrick (nee Hatch) is my paternal grandmother. Abbie's first husband, Naomi Blanche's father, was Albert Earl Martin. [My paternal grandfather was Abbie's second husband, Ernest (NMI) Herrick]
