Timothy, I am descended from five Markham brothers who left Kilrush to work their Native Irish lands in the early 1800's. This was just above Quin, which is near the O Marcachainne ancient ancestral territory at Bally Markihan / Place of the Marchi. They became tenants on the properties around Toonagh,Maghera and " Gurruragh" near Tulla. These lands were then held by the Protestant Foreign Land Lords in the early 1800's who had taken over 95% of all Irish Lands. No Catholic Native Irish legally existed then under English law and my great - grandfather Daniel Markham and his three brothers, Michael, Patrick and Martin came to Australia with their sister, Bridget leaving Mary and Anne behind with their parents in 1860-64. Their father was John Joseph Markham and their mother was Mary O Sullivan / Suileabhain.Due to English law their is no record of their deaths but there is a strong connection as Andrew Markham came out with them also from Kilrush.
