Lewis Markham, ancestor of Chief Justice John Marshall
According to a marriage record in Westmoreland County, Virginia, Elizabeth Markham married John Marshall in 1721-1722, and she was the daughter of Lewis Markham, who died in 1713.
In a book, "Some Neigbors of Washington" it is stated that Lewis Markham was an ancestor of Chief Justice Marshall.
Thanks to Family Finder at Family Tree DNA, I have discovered that I am a relative of Elizabeth Markham, born 1704, died 1779, who was the daughter of Lewis Markham, and the grandmother of Chief Justice John Marshall.
The father of Lewis Markham was Lewis Markham Sr, who was transported from Glamorgan, Wales to Barbados in the 1650s as an indentured servant. After serving 4 years, Lewis Markham Sr settled in Westmoreland County, Virginia.
My Markham family is John Markham Sr, born about 1787 in Virginia, died in Louisiana about 1858. So I have several ancestors I need to find that are between John Markham, born 1787, and Lewis Markham, born about 1659.
