Wilmer “Rip” Marker Jr., 82, Garrett, went home to be with the Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Dec. 16, 2007, at Windber Hospice.
Born April 19, 1925, in Lincoln Township, a son of the late Wilmer and Cora Estella (Spaugey) Marker Sr. Also preceded in death by brother, John Marker; sister, Ethel Witt; and infant granddaughter, Tracey Lynn Gary. Survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Emaline (Vought) Marker; son, David Marker and his wife, Mary Ann, Garrett; and daughter, Debbra, wife of Donald Gary, Garrett; grandchildren, Jeffrey Marker and wife, Carolann, Walkersville, Md.; Brian Marker and wife, Jill, Garrett; Scott Marker and fiancee, Julie Ferrero, Greensburg; Tonya, wife of Michael Knotts, Meyersdale; and Monica, wife of Charlie Sandy, Garrett; great-grandchildren, Matthew, Anne Marie, Madeline, Samuel and Eric Marker, Jacob and Tyler Sandy. A brother of Edgar Marker and wife, Connie, Somerset; Gordon Marker and wife, Sally, Somerset; Lawrence Marker and wife, Rose, Garrett; Etta, wife of Dale Custer, Berlin; and Glenda, wife of Russ Weimer, Meyersdale. Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews. Retired from Amerigas Corp. in Somerset. He attended Center Church, Garrett until he became homebound. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Price Funeral Home, Meyersdale, where service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday. The Rev. Terry Reese and the Rev. Timothy Shivler officiating. Interment Meyersdale Area Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Windber Hospice, Windber. Arrangements by the William Rowe Price Funeral Home Inc., Meyersdale.
