Mrs. Mark Dead.
Mrs. Laura Stevens Mark died on Monday last, Jan. 20, 1896, aged () years, one months and 26 days.
Deceased was born in Genesee county, New York Nov. 26, 1812, and was unied in marriage to John M. Mark in 1834. Six years later the couple came to St. Charles, bringing with them two children, Calista and Edward, who were born to them in New York. Seven children came to their hearth-side in St. Charles, viz. Adelia, John, Hosmer, Wellington, Allen F., Allen G. (the two last named being twins) and Ada. For fifty-six years the wife and mother kept the family lamps burning in St. Charles though either death or distant fields of life had claimed nearly all of her children before the master called her hence. But one children, her youngest, remained with her in the old town to the last.
The husband and father passed along ahead twenty-four years ago in March, 1872.
Deceased leaves to mourn her two daughters, Mrs. E.B. Howar( ) of Kansas City, Mo., and Miss Ada M() of St. Charles, and one son, E() Mark, of Iowa Falls, Iowa.
The funeral services were held at the residence at 10:30 yesterday (Jan. 23, 1896) Interment in the North Cemetery.
