Lois, John T. Maris is my great grandfather. Your grandfather Oscar Morton Maris is the brother of my grandmother Mabel Claire MARIS Mullins White. The Maris line, which you identified back to William O. Maris, is documented in a published book back to George Maris in the 1630s, who obtained land from William Penn. I just loaned my copy of the book to my sister so I'm unable to give you the exact year or George's middle initial. The book was written as a bicentennial project by the descendants of George Maris. They actually gathered at the original property and spent a few years gathering all the genealogy up to the publishing year. They stopped the year immediately prior to my grandmother's birth. In fact, there is a photo of William O. Maris, one of only a few identified in a large group photo of the Indiana portion of the reunion. Once I obtain my copy back from my sister I would be glad to identify the name of the book for you and where you are able to obtain a copy. It tracks our MARIS family from PA to NC to IN to AR (1 year on the way to KS) to KS. Marilyn Schunke Notify Administrator about this message?
