Marino-Giangrasso-Manfredi-Percoco: Sicily to MA and NY
I am looking for relatives descended from Giovanni (John) MARINO, who was married to Maria GIANGRASSO in Sicily and emigrated to MA with his two daughters, Angelina and Francesca, circa 1895. The family later moved to NYC.
Angelina MARINO married Vincenzo MANFREDI, also from Sicily, in NYC, circa 1911. She had three sons, a boy who died in infancy, Giuseppe (Joseph), and Giovanni (John). She was my grandmother; Joseph was my father.
My great-aunt Francesca MARINO married Frank PERCOCO of Messina, Sicily, also in NYC and had 4 children: Giuseppe (Joseph) PERCOCO, Francesco (Frank) PERCOCO Jr., Virginia PERCOCO, and Maria PERCOCO. All the PERCOCO children were born before 1920. All married and had children. Maria was said by my father to have married an African American man during the late 1930s or early 1940s and to have moved to Queens.
But there are more MARINOS in my family! At some point before 1910, a man named Francesco (Frank) MARINO -- who was my grandmother Angelina's uncle or cousin (no one remembers now) -- also emigrated to New York City from Sicily. He would have been related to my grandmother through her father's MARINO family, not through her mother's GIANGRASSO family.
Around the same time, my grandfather Vincenzo's younger sister also came to NYC from Sicily; i do not know her name, but this "Miss MANFREDI" married my grandmother Angelina's relative Frank MARINO and they had a son, Giuseppe (Joseph) MARINO.
Vincenzo MANFREDI and his brother-in-law (and also probable cousin-in-law) Frank MARINO went into business together in the 1920s, manufacturing burglar alarms, which my grandfather had invented, according to family history. They had a falling out in 1928 over the business and the family was split apart, some members never speaking to the others again.
