I have been requesting a "MARING" page for a long time, and at last it is here!
The German name Moehring (where oe represent umlauted "o") became Maring, Mering, Merring, and in Ohio Merrin. Other spellings and mispellings exist. You are looking at these:
1st NICHOLAS [17__, Germany--1808, NJ]
M: Susannah _____ [b 17__, Netherlands--living 1800, NJ]. No definitive record has been found which proves when and from where he arrived or how many, if any, other family or relatives accompanied him. It is not known whether Susannah was his only wife. An inventory of his estate was filed in Sussex Co, NJ, but he probably resided in Morris Co, NJ most of his adult life.
.2nd John [early 1770s, NJ--1821, OH]
"John Meran" was married to Sarah Bell [ca 1773, NJ--1861, OH] on 7 April 1796 by Daniel Predmore in Sussex Co, NJ (Book A, 6). He made a will in Belmont Co, OH, dated 25 June 1821 (Book B, 240). It was proved 19 Nov 1821. John named wife Sarah executrix. His oldest son, Moses Maring, had already received $66.98 to be deducted from his share.
..3rd Moses [2 Mch 1797, NJ--19 Feb 1872, IA]
M: Eleanor (Mary Ellen) Monroe [18 Dec 1799, DE--31 May 1866, IA] on 13 Nov 1817 in Belmont Co, OH by Vachel Hall. Moses's probate records name Robert, Samuel, John, Nicholas, Moses, William, Joseph, Iloff, Alexander, Sarah (Slusher), Maria (Brown), and Louisa (Johnson)
...4th Alexander [10 Apr 1841, OH--31 Aug 1915, NE]
M: Lucinda Maring [27 Oct 1838, OH--19 Apr 1925, NE] on 7 April 1864 in Appanoose Co, IA by Elder James S Barrett.
They resided in Appanoose Co, Iowa; Medicine Twp, Putnam Co, MO; and Holt Co, NE. Civil War service with Co D, 6th Iowa Reg't. Filed for a pension in 1888 while in NE. His widow filed in 1915. The file has his marriage license and death certificate.
....5th Logan Emery [b 4 Mch 1869, IA]
M: Mary Bosley [b Jan 1879, IA]. They moved to Highland Pct, Garfield Co, NE.
